Silver Car Crash is a noisy, guitar-driven post-punk band formed in the verdant hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With members active in the city’s DIY circuit for nearly a decade, they embody the chaos and catharsis that has long fueled the Steel City’s underground. Blending influences that span garage rock, hardcore, country, avant-garde, and no wave, the band brews a delicious stew of loud basement rock and roll and raw, potent poetry– casting sonic spells upon those tuned in.
For those paying attention, Silver Car Crash has been a cornerstone of Pittsburgh’s independent music renaissance. Emerging from house shows and sweaty basements, they built a formidable live reputation supporting national acts such as Ought, Toner, and Stuck, while becoming a “band’s band” among their peers. Their sound, both jagged and hypnotic, pairs urgent interlocking guitars with a dynamic mix of shouted and deadpan vocals, reflecting the restless energy of a generation wrestling with doom and dreams.
Following their cult-favorite debut Resource Body (2018), the group returned with Shattered Shine (2023) a document of persistence and reinvention that proved nothing short of miraculous. Tracked at Mr. Smalls Studio with Nate Campisi, the record captures Silver Car Crash’s evolution from the grime of South Oakland’s Murder Pit to a more self-aware, sharpened state, without losing their punk edge.
Shared songwriting and vocal duties between Brandon, Justin, and Conner feed into their sonic unpredictability. Together, they channel a volatile mix of noise, melody, and conviction, music for the disenchanted and the dreamers alike.
